Hypnotherapy

Research has shown that our unconscious mind makes 90% of our decisions and that behaviours are established at a very young age. The unconscious mind's primary function is to protect us. However, behaviours learned at a young age are not always helpful in dealing with issues that we face as adults. Although our conscious mind knows how to deal with situations rationally, the unconscious mind which is the driving force, can create a raft of limiting and unhelpful behaviours because of early programming.

 

The solution to rectifying these unwanted behaviours is through reasoning with the unconscious mind and finding behaviours that are more appropriate.

 

What is hypnotherapy?

 

The National Hypnotherapy Society describes hypnotherapy as: 'A skilled verbal communication, used during hypnosis, which helps direct a client's imagination in such a way as to bring about intended alterations in sensations, perceptions, feelings, thoughts and behaviour. In a typical hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist will ask the client questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle. The hypnotherapist and client will decide together on the changes or goals that are desired. Hypnotherapy can be applied to a wide range of medical, dental and psychological problems. Areas of application include anxiety and stress conditions, weight control, addictive behaviours (including smoking, alcohol and substance misuse) and confidence issues. Hypnotherapy is also used to enhance performance in several areas such sport and public speaking.'

 

What is hypnosis?

 

Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention, of altered awareness. A highly relaxed state. It is a state that allows you to rest your conscious mind and allow your unconscious mind to be receptive to new and helpful ideas.

 

In this state you are aware of everything around you....

 

You will be in control at all times!

Clients have described my treatment room as an island of tranquillity, where nothing else matters but total relaxation and wellbeing. The aim is to get to the root of the matter. I strive to make clients as comfortable as possible, by gaining trust and a true understanding of the technique that will be the most appropriate for them. Everyone is unique and I enjoy getting to understand what that is for each of my clients! I like to make each session count and leave clients feeling more centred and refreshed.
